Things to Live By

I find it interesting that we are reluctant to give young workers real responsibility because they lack "experience." True, they will make mistakes and learn from them, but I think they are a LOT smarter than we give them credit for, generally. Take a look, for instance, at this blog post written by a twenty-something about 84 things to live by. Really. Read the WHOLE list. I’ll wait.

Here are a few of my favorites:

8.      Explore outside your comfort zone
45.    If you are repeatedly treated poorly by someone, it’s because you allow it to continue
59.    Don’t yell
71.    No matter how much you know, you’re still probably ignorant
83.    Just do it. Anything, everything, all of it – whatever you want. Just do it.
84.    It’s always easier then you thought.

Thanks to Hugh MacLeod for the pointer (although I got it on Twitter, not his blog, for those of you who doubt the value of Twitter!).

    Jaime,
Thanks so much for the shout out. Really making my day.
AND for acknowledging the issue with young workers. I am sure you can guess it’s a real conflict for me with work right now!
