Conflict in Boston

A reminder to everyone that I am speaking at the upcoming ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership Annual Meeting in Boston. I can’t believe that it’s just over a month away. My session is titled "Overcoming Your Association’s Fear of Conflict." This is the first time I’m doing a session specifically about conflict for an association audience, and I’m excited about it. I think it is also cool that ASAE & The Center decided to record my session, although I admit it will make me self conscious.

The session will cover the basics of conflict resolution, but it will focus on avoidance. It is the avoidance that really costs us, in the end, even though at the time we think avoidance is the right course. I will also provide some basic skills and tools for working through conflict. It should be a fun session. (You can read my articles about conflict here, by the way)

I guess this is the first year they are doing concurrent sessions on the Saturday of the conference, and that’s when my slot falls: 3:30 to 5:00pm on Saturday, August 19th. I hope to see you there!

Congratulations Jamie – I’m sure you’ll be great. Make sure to get a copy of the videotape. It will make great marketing collateral for you in the future! 🙂
    Best wishes,
