We've Always Done it That Way

I’m heading off to sunny (I hope) Orlando, Florida tomorrow to attend ASAE and The Center for Association Leadership’s "Great Ideas" conference. It’s one of my favorite association-related events. I think I’ve been to every Great Ideas conference they have put on.

When I am there I will be getting together with four very good friends of mine: Jeff De Cagna, Amy Smith, David Gammel, and Mickie Rops. We are all consultants to associations, so we’ve gotten to know each other over the last few years, often through conferences like Great Ideas (when else can we find the time to get together!). We had so much fun hanging out together, we figured working on something together would be just as fun. We only had to figure out what the project would be.

A few months ago we decided on a project: write a book. Specifically, we are writing a book titled "We Have Always Done it That Way: 101 Things About Associations We Must Change." It will be a short book designed to get people in the association community thinking in some new ways.

And since all five of us are bloggers, what better way to write a book than on a blog! We are posting segments of the book onto the blog as we write them. We invite you to check it out and give us some feedback that we can incorporate into the final product. You can read the blog at http://www.alwaysdoneitthatway.com.
