National Poetry Month

According to the Academy of American Poets, April is national poetry month. This year, for the first time in my life really, I've been writing poetry, and I am finding it quite satisfying. So if you were ever to take a month and experiment with writing that is not necessarily rational, linear, and explicit, now is the time. I'll post some of my poems this month, but for now, here's a leadership haiku:

Welcoming burden
We brace for pain and hardship
While our people lead.

    Twenty thousand things
    All happening every day
    Which ones matter most?
I write at least one haiku every day. In my busy world it provides an outlet for my creativity that is both simple and satisfying. The elegance of a single thought expressed in 17 syllables has an attraction all its own.

I don’t think I’ve written a haiku since junior high but I’m procrastinating a bit, whoops, I mean taking a break to refresh my mind.
    Stuck on end to post
    Blogging can be difficult
    My reward beer waits.
Thanks, Jamie, writing a haiku a day could be a good brain exercise.
